What is Lyric and Letter?

At "Lyric and Letter," we're not just a podcast – we're a growing community of believers united in our love for worship music and our dedication to delving deep into the Scriptures. Our platform has expanded to include inspiring devotionals and innovative thematic verse mapping tools, enriching our journey in faith together.

What is Our Mission?

Our mission is to deepen our understanding of scripture by exploring its references within contemporary worship songs. With the addition of our devotional and verse mapping tools, we aim to discover theological themes within the songs we sing and connect them back to the Bible. This fosters a greater appreciation of scripture and its application to our daily lives, enhancing our spiritual growth.

What is Our Vision?

Our vision is to inspire engagement with scripture in a dynamic and meaningful way. By blending the emotional resonance of music with the wisdom of the scriptures, and now, through our devotional and verse mapping tools, we aim to create a transformative experience. This experience deepens faith, fosters personal growth towards the Lord, and promotes a deeper understanding of the scriptures that draws people closer to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Who We Are

Born and raised in San Jose, California, and now residing in Northern Indiana, Rebecca's love for worship music has been a lifelong passion. With a background in writing, film, audiobook narration, and multimedia combined with a deep appreciation for the worship arts, she has broadened her focus to include not only the podcast but also engaging spiritual resources like devotionals and thematic verse mapping tools. Rebecca's curiosity about the connection between the lyrics we sing and the timeless truths in the Bible continues to fuel her curiosity further into worship and the Word of God.

What We Do

In each episode of our podcast and through our newly developed publications, we reverse engineer worship songs to uncover the profound Scriptures they're rooted in. We explore the powerful messages behind the music, connecting our heads and hearts to God's Word. We aim to create a space where listeners can enjoy uplifting melodies and deepen their understanding and application of the Word of God.

Statement of Faith for the "Lyric and Letter" Podcast

  • About God: God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). These three are co-equal, one God in essence and purpose.

  • About Humanity: Created in God's image (Genesis 1:27), humanity is designed to reflect His character. We are a vital part of God’s creation but are marred by sin, an inherent rebellion against God (Romans 3:23), leading to separation from Him.

  • About Eternity: Human existence is designed for eternity (Ecclesiastes 3:11). We will either exist eternally separated from God due to sin (Romans 6:23) or in union with Him through salvation (John 3:16). Heaven and hell are the ultimate destinations of this eternal existence.

  • About Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ, co-equal with the Father, is the Son of God (John 1:1,14). Born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35), He lived a sinless life, died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), and rose again, affirming His victory over sin and death. He ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9) and will return as King of kings (Revelation 19:16).

  • About Salvation: Salvation is a free gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9). It cannot be earned through self-improvement or good works but is received by faith in Jesus Christ. God assures us of salvation’s completion (Philippians 1:6).

  • About God’s Dependability: Eternal life, given through Jesus Christ, is maintained by God’s grace and power, not by human effort (John 10:28-29). This divine assurance means nothing can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39).

  • About the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit, co-equal with the Father and Son, makes us aware of our need for Christ (John 16:8-11). He indwells believers from salvation (1 Corinthians 3:16), providing strength, truth, and guidance in righteousness (Galatians 5:25).

  • About the Bible: The Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is God-breathed and authoritative (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21). It was written under the Holy Spirit’s guidance and stands as the final authority in matters of faith and practice.

  • About Faith and Practice: Scripture is the ultimate authority for Christian faith and life (Psalm 119:105). We recognize individual responsibility and liberty in areas not explicitly addressed by Scripture, always under Christ’s lordship (Romans 14:5-8).

This Statement of Faith embodies the beliefs and guiding principles of the "Lyric and Letter" podcast, aligning our discussions and content with scriptural truths.
